Odisha CM inaugurates SAMALEI project as Samaleswari Temple dazzles with major facelift

Sambalpur: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Samaleswari Temple Area Management and Local Economy Initiatives (SAMALEI) project here, today.

On the occasion, Patnaik had darshan of Maa Samaleswari and took blessings of the deity. The CM prayed for the peace and prosperity of the people of the State.

The project includes peripheral development of the shrine, construction of a heritage corridor, amenities for pilgrims, improved access to the temple, and development of the Mahanadi riverfront.

The project, which was being carried out during the last three years, has transformed the 16th century temple, significantly.

The work for the project started in February of 2021 with an initial expenditure of Rs 200 crore. The state government has spent a total of Rs 290 crore for the transformational work.

Bhakta Niwas, new Trust Board Office, museum, park, cafeteria, common amenities center, dipa ghara and Mahanadi Alati are among the significant aspects of the SAMALEI project.
