Odisha CM inaugurates ‘Skill Museum’ in Cuttack

Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated ‘Skill Museum’ at the State-run ITI here for making youths aspirational in skills.

Attending a programme at the Government ITI in Cuttack, Patnaik stressed the skill development to meet the technological needs and taking up skills as career.

“The era of mere domain skill acquisition through ITIs is gone. Now, this is time to inculcate ‘design thinking’ in the minds of youth to foresee future technological needs as skilled professionals,” he said.

Generally, museum showcases ancient and updated things. But, the Skill Museum at the Government ITI in Cuttack is one of its kinds.

The CM said that the Skill Museum will connect ancient skills to modern skills and also link forward to future skills.

The Skill Museum concept will be rolled out in ITIs of other districts for motivation of youths towards skills.

Addressing at the function, Patnaik said, “The ITIs are the hearts of our skills ecosystem where the trainees are not only exposed to ‘domain skills’ but also ‘life skills’. The ITI, Cuttack has been producing skilled professionals over last 60 years.”

Lauding the efforts by the State government for partnership with international TVET players like ITE, Singapore in skill development, he said that the ITIs of the State have finalised their mission, vision and values and they have started their transformative journey.

“Our skilled professionals are now aspiring for winning medals in World Skill Competitions and quite a good number of young girls are opting ‘Skills’ as career, which is a positive sign for our Mission,” Patnaik said in his speech.

He hoped that the initiative like ‘Skill Museum’ will take ITIs to a new horizon.
