Odisha CM launches ‘Sujal’ for 24×7 drinking water supply in urban areas

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today through videoconferencing launched the ‘Sujal’- Drink from Tap initiative to provide 24×7 drinking water supply in urban areas of the state.

The aim of the mission is to provide quality drinking water to more than 1.5 million people in urban areas. On the occasion, the CM dedicated 24×7 drinking water supply to 12 pilot areas of Bhubaneswar and Puri benefiting 1.8 lakh population.

Water supply augmentation work in 15 towns with project outlay of Rs 1300 crores benefiting 15 lakh people and water metering work in four  places (Bhubaneswar, Puri, Rourkela and Berhampur) covering 3 lakh connections and 22 lakh population were also commenced on the occasion.

Worth mentioning, 100 percent household water supply connection has been achieved in Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Digapahandi, and Kashinagar, official sources said.

The initiative also features 24×7 helpline centre with IVRS for grievance redressal and  quick response team for rapid redressal of water supply compliance.
