Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of the ambitious Ekamra Kshetra Amenities and Monuments Revival Action (EKAMRA) Plan at the Lingaraj Temple here, today. A three-day-long Bhumi Pujan ceremony was organised at the shrine by the temple Trust Board.
The Ekamra project has been targeted for completion in one and a half years at a cost of Rs 280 crore.
Notably, the project’s objective is to revive the grandeur of the ancient heritage precinct surrounding the Shaivite shrine, covering an area of 80 acres. This includes a variety of monuments, sacred tanks and water bodies. Focus will be given to the restoration of architectural and archaeological treasures.
