Odisha CM lays foundation stones for 37 projects in Puri

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated a number of projects and laid foundations stones for as many as 37 projects across Puri while on a day-long tour of the district.

A fire station, an aanganwadi center and a healthcare center was inaugurated among other projects in Kakatpur Assembly constituency.

Later, he went on a tour of Brahmagiri constituency, where he laid foundation stones for a number of projects.

According to reports, in a specially organised function, he facilitated loans of Rs 2.95 crore to 32 fisheries cooperative societies in the constituency. Besides, 240 students from fishermen’s families were given scholarships worth Rs 92,000.

“I had been to Puri district today to inaugurate a number of developmental programmes and dedicate welfare schemes of the government for the local people,” said Patnaik speaking to reporters while on his way back from the district.

In a related news, a 67 year-old woman who was at a meeting venue of the Chief Minister in Kakatpur, fell sick during the event and later died of heart attack while under treatment.

Even though an injury was found on her finger, which led to suspicion of snakebite, Doctor Binay Kumar Panda – who treated her– confirmed the cause of death to be heart attack.

According to a source, as many as 2000 senior citizens had been gathered for the event at the spot. Even though they were brought to the meeting venue as early as 8 AM for a meeting scheduled in the afternoon, adequate drinking water facilities had not been made.
