Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik felicitates braveheart, clicks selfie

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had another selfie moment with two kids from Kendrapara, one of whom had saved her sibling from the claws of crocodile.

Naveen felicitated Asanti who saved her sister Mamata from crocodile attack over a week ago.

The Chief Minister also presented bi-cycles to the duo at the brief ceremony held at state secretariat.

The Chief Minister enquired the girls about that fateful incident and heaped praise on them. The sibling duo is studying in Class II.

“Thrilled to meet little braveheart from Kendrapara Tiki and her friend Basanti; worthy occasion for my 1st #selfie with the heroes. #Proud,” Patnaik tweeted.

While he advised them to continue with studies and not stop going school midway, he directed the Collector to facilitate their studies.

Notably, Asanti from Bankual village under Rajnagar block in the district had confronted a five-foot crocodile and saved her sister from the croc attack on April 4.

The six-year-old became an overnight sensation for showing exemplary courage.

Patnaik had heaped praise on the little girl and tweeted: “Am in awe of exemplary courage shown by 6-year-old Tiki of Kendrapara to save friend from crocodile’s jaws. Sabash little Tiki, proud of you.”
