Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurates computerization of PACS

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated computerization of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) and launched RuPay Kisan Cards in a state-level function organized at Jayadev Bhawan here.

Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Odisha is the first State to implement an integrated core banking solution project covering all the three tiers of the short term cooperative credit structure i.e. State Cooperative Bank, District Central Cooperative Banks and 2708 Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies. With computerization of the PACS, the farmers are now able to draw their sanctioned loans from the ATM network of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) having 2.14 lakh ATMs of all Banks across the Country.

Patnaik also distributed Micro ATM for dispensation of loans at the doorsteps of the farmers. He further stated that his Government is keen to address all the requirements of the farmers by converting the PACS as One Stop Shops.

Speaking on the occasion, Surya Narayan Patro, Minister, Cooperation asserted that because of CBS in Cooperative Banks and PACS, the proceeds of the paddy procurement operations to the extent of around Rs.8000 crores credited directly to the farmers account. Now the farmers of the State are empowered to access credit through the ATM network and Odisha is the first State in the Country to introduce such a foolproof system to ensure transparency through technology and teamwork.

The Chief Minister inaugurated Computerisation of PACS and distributed RuPay Kisan Cards to the farmer members of PACS of Banki, Khurda and Bolangir CCBs. He also felicitated the President and Secretary of Banki CCB for successful piloting of the PACS Computerisation Project and Saktidutta Mishra, System Analyst, Odisha State Cooperative Bank for his outstanding contribution for successful grounding of the project.

After the function, a Bank on Wheels flagged off by Chief Minister in September, 2015 dispensed cash to the farmers through RuPay Kisan Cards on the premises of the Jayadev Bhawan.

Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary, Cooperation Department outlined the activities of the Cooperation Department in his welcome address. Among others, the M. P., Bhubaneswar, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Chief General Manager, NABARD, officers of Reserve Bank of India and NABARD, Principal Secretaries and Commissioner-cum-Secretaries of Government, senior officers of various Departments, office bearers and officials of Odisha State Cooperative Bank, Central Cooperative Banks and PACS of Banki and Khurda CCB and selected farmers attended the function.
