Odisha CM orders SIT probe into Nayagarh minor girl’s murder case

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today ordered an SIT probe into the alleged abduction and murder of a five-year-old girl of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district.

Attending the Winter Session of the Odisha Assembly virtually through video conference, the CM today gave the order for a probe by Special Investigating Team (SIT) into the alleged minor girl’s murder case.

“My Government is always committed for free and fair investigation. I am deeply saddened by the incident and my Government always stand for the rule of law,” said the CM requesting all the members of the House to cooperate by participating in the discussion.

The CM’s order came after both BJP and Congress members created an uproar in the House over the alleged murder case.  Soon after the House assembled,  legislators of both the House cornered the Government over the issue demanding resignation of Minister Arun Sahu. Besides, Congress senior MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati demanded an SIT probe into the incident.

As the ruckus continued, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro called for an all-party meeting to restore normalcy in the House. Later, he adjourned the House till 3 PM today.
