Odisha CM pays tribute to Madhusudan Das on his birth anniversary

Bhubaneswar: Commemorating Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das’ immense contribution in setting the foundation stone of modern Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today payed tribute to the veteran poet and freedom fighter on his 172nd birth anniversary.

The CM took to Twitter and wrote in Odia to laurel the litterateur and recalled his contribution towards establishment of modern Odisha as an independent province and for preservation of the state’s art, culture and education.

Patnaik also mentioned that Das’ efforts in setting a benchmark for Odia literature will inspire the people of the land for generations.

Born in Satyabhampur village, 20 kilometres away from Cuttack, Madhusudan Das was the first graduate and advocate of Odisha and owner of the titles ‘Kulabruddha’ meaning the ‘Grand Old Man’ and ‘Utkala Gouraba’ meaning The Pride of Utkal.

Madhu Babu, as he was otherwise called, took his last breath on February 4, 1934.
