Odisha CM performs ground-breaking of 15 industrial units; to create over 8,000 jobs

Bhubaneswar: In a major development that would give a boost to the industrial sector and create employment in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today performed the ground-breaking ceremony for 15 industrial units through a video conference here today.

The 15 industrial units will collectively invest Rs 1807.92 crore and create 8,883 jobs in the State.

Detailing the projects, Patnaik said the focus is on on diversifying industrial growth across the State. Among the 15 projects, the maize processing plant at Nabarangpur will significantly contribute in creating new job opportunities in the industrially-backward district. Besides, the proposed industrial park at Dhamra will promote port-led manufacturing in the State.

“In less than a year, we have done the ground breaking or inauguration of 64 projects which have created employment opportunities for more than 30,000 youth in the State,” the CM stated.

Sources said food processing, including seafood, contributes over half of the projects (8 of the 15 projects). This would further strengthen Odisha’s position as the food processing hub of Eastern India.

Besides, the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) headed by CM Naveen approved six large investment proposals worth Rs 25,845 crore. The largescale manufacturing units will create 13,705 jobs in the State.

“With an objective of attracting Rs 2.5 lakh crore fresh investments and generating 30 lakh job opportunities as part of CM’s Vision- 2025, the Odisha Government is diversifying and broadening the State’s industrial development across the focus sectors,” said an official.
