Odisha CM raises financial incentive for Anganwadi Workers, Helpers

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today increased the financial incentive for Anganwadi Workers, Mini Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.

In a statement, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) mentioned the financial incentive for Anganwadi Workers has been increased to Rs 40,000 from Rs 20,000. Mini Anganwadi Workers and Helpers will now get Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

Earlier, Mini Anganwadi Workers and Helpers in the State were getting Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 as the financial incentive respectively.

The State government has been providing the incentive to Anganwadi Workers, Mini Anganwadi Workers and Helpers upon their attainment of 62 years during disengagement as a measure of social security.

The CMO statement added the financial incentive will be given to Anganwadi Workers from January 1, 2019 with retrospective effect. A total of 1.3 lakh Anganwadi Workers will be benefited with the move.

As many as 1,991 Anganwadi Workers, Mini Anganwadi Workers and Helpers who have been disengaged so far from January 2019 till date will also get the benefit.

This apart, if they are admitted to the State-run government hospital or a hospital empanelled by the government due to illness, paid medical leave will be allotted to them, the CMO statement added.
