Odisha CM ranks top in Covid-19 management, shows survey

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik has been ranked as India’s No 1 CM in Covid-19 management. As per the ‘Mood Of The Nation’ survey conducted by India Today for the month of August 2021, Patnaik was followed by Assam CM Hemanta Biswa Sharma and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in managing the Covid-19 pandemic efficiently.

For over one and half years, the Odisha Chief Minister’s management of the pandemic in the State drew praises from different quarters including the Niti Aayog.

In June this year, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) praised Odisha’s Malkangiri district for COVID-19 situation management.

Till now as many as 9,96,153 Covid positive cases, 3.09% of the country’s total case, have been detected in Odisha. Of them, 8,608 were active cases whereas 9,80,471 recuperated from the disease. The recovery rate of the State has been 3.12% of the country’s total recovery.

A total of 7,021 persons in the State succumbed to Covid-19 while 53 died of diseases other than Covid.
