Odisha CM sanctions Rs 5 cr for Swargadwar development

Bhubaneswar: Swargadwar in Odisha’s Puri town is all set to get a major facelift as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today sanctioned Rs 5 crore for its development in the first phase.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by the CM at the Lok Seva Bhawan here this evening. The amount will be spent from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund while Phoenix Foundation will take up the development work of Swargadwar, a release of the Chief Minister’s Office said.

Under the project, modern facilities will be made available for cremation and pallbearers at Swargadwar, which was ravaged by cyclone FANI. This apart, facilitation of the cremation process during all seasons will be ensured, the release said.

Construction of restrooms for pallbearers, afforestation, facilities for collection and conservation of mortal remains will be a part of the project, the release added. Patnaik has directed to complete the work within six months.
