Odisha CM sets deadline to make RTO offices broker-free

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed concerned officials to make Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state broker-free within 15 days.

Patnaik’s directive came while he was holding a discussion with collectors, SPs and Regional Transport Officers through videoconferencing at the Lok Seva Bhavan here regarding the newly-implemented MV Act.

The CM advised the officers for opening more counters at the offices for facilitating issuance of DLs and other vehicle-related documents to the applicants.

Patnaik also directed for stringent action against drunken driving and reckless driving. He also laid emphasis on providing first-aid treatment to road accident victims. Road safety and traffic rule awareness plays a key role in curbing accidents, for which sensitization drives should be conducted at schools, colleges and roads, he opined.

The Chief Minister asked all concerned departments to work in coordination for proper implementation of the rules.
