“A section of the Opposition parties, who have been rejected by the people of Odisha have launched a misinformation campaign against BJD. They are worried as their campaign has failed to have any impact on the people,” Patnaik said at the party's 19th foundation day here.

Patnaik expressed his party’s indebtedness to the people of the state for their support all these years.

“Though my party has been ruling the state for the past 17 years, the craze for BJD is still there among the people. We are indebted to the people of Odisha for remaining untouched by the waves in national politics during the 2014 polls. People want my party to go ahead with their support. Their confidence in me has made me more responsible towards them,” the BJD supremo said.

Patnaik said the Opposition parties lacked sincerity towards Odisha adding that while some were engaged in internal bickering, some were preferred to survive only on publicity. He said the people of the state were aware of it.

“Let us join hands and work for the service of the state and its people," the BJD supremo exhorted party workers.

Patnaik hit out at the Centre for its neglect of the state by cutting down on allocations for development of backward and tribal dominated regions of the state and blamed it for supporting the controversial Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh's unilateral construction of projects on Mahanadi river.
