Odisha CM to inaugurate Gurupriya bridge on July 18

Malkangiri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the much-awaited Gurupriya bridge, which will connect as many as nine Panchayats in cut-off areas of the Maoist-hit district, on July 18.

Briefing mediapersons, Chitrakonda MLA Dambaru Sisa said all works of the bridge have already been completed and it will be inaugurated on July 18.

Earlier in May, the state government had installed CCTV cameras on the bridge to help BSF and CRPF personnel keep a track on the movements of Maoists in the district and provide the local residents better security.

It may be mentioned here that construction of the 910-metre bridge, foundation stone of which was laid by former Chief Minister JB Patnaik way back in 1982, had started in 2014.
