Odisha CM to visit Japan to attract investment: Industries Minister

Bhubaneswar: A high-level delegation led by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will leave for Japan on April 2 to attract investment for the state, said Industries and MSME minister Pratap Keshari Deb today.

The delegation will hold discussion with the interested investors in the foreign country from April 5 to 8. The delegation members will apprise the investors regarding the scenario of industries in the state. A ‘Make in Odisha’-like roadshow will also be held, said Deb.

On being asked as to why Japan was selected for the visit, the minister said the Centre holds discussion with ambassadors of various countries at regular intervals. Visits are made to the countries that express interest towards investment, he said.

Japan, Germany, Norway and Nepal have shown interest for investment in the state, the minister added.

The state is expecting significant investment proposals during the CM’s visit to Japan. In 2018 and last year, Japan partnered with the Make in Odisha Conclave, which is the state’s flagship business summit.
