Odisha CM urges PM Modi to postpone NEET & JEE

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone requesting him to postpone JEE (Main) and NEET in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and flood situation in many parts of the state.

The two tests are scheduled to be held in first fortnight of September.

During the telephonic conversation,  Patnaik said besides the COVID-19 pandemic, many parts of the state are in the grip of flood, for which students may face difficulties in appearing the examinations

Earlier,  the CM had written a letter to Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank urging him to postpone the exams. He had also requested him to direct the National Testing Agency (NTA) to open exam centres in all the 30 districts in Odisha.

Worth mentioning, the NTA has scheduled to conduct the JEE (Main) and NEET for admission into technical and medical courses from September 1 to 6 and on September 13, respectively. More than 50,000 students from Odisha will appear in NEET and around 40,000 in JEE (Main) this year.
