Odisha CM warns quarantine violators of strong action

Bhubaneswar: As Odisha is bracing all its stranded natives returning from other states, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appealed all the returnees to co-operate with the Government officials and strictly abide by the 14-day institutional quarantine norms.

He also warned that strong action would be taken against persons violating the quarantine norms in the state. Patnaik took to Twitter to convey his message to the fresh returnees hashtaging it as ‘OdishaCares.’

Addressing all of them as the state’s own, Patnaik said that in these crucial times, even a little carelessness can cost many lives. To ensure the infection stays contained, the state government has arranged safety alternatives, one of which is the institutional quarantine.

Emphasizing that Odisha is in a stable condition due to round-the-clock diligent services of the front-row warriors of the state, the CM asked all the returnees to share the same spirits and do their part by simply cooperating with them. He ended his message saying that all Sarpanchs have been instructed to report the respective district authorities concerned in case of violations and take strict action against the violators.

This statement of the CM came after several reports surfaced regarding violation of quarantine norms by returnees at various places.

Meanwhile, DGP  Abhay took to Twitter and said, “Any conduct endangering the safely of others in the context of COVID-19 will be strongly dealt with as per the law. Our hospitality of returnees does not mean leniency towards the negligent. My appeal to all returnees to follow the laid down norms while in quarantine,” .
