Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda over granting Letter of Permission (LoP) to Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada obligatory to commence undergraduate courses for 2017-18 academic year, official sources said today.

“Government of India had recommended to Medical Council of India (MCI) for conducting the review assessment of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, Baripada and Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput. While MCI had visited SLN MC&H on April 11 this year for assessment of the compliance of the observations, however, they are yet to visit PRM MC&H for assessment of the compliance, even though all requirements for obtaining LoP have meanwhile been fulfilled to commence first batch admission in the current year I.e, 2017-18,” Naveen wrote in the letter on Thursday.

Notably, state government had applied for LoP to these two medical colleges. Besides, inspectors from MCI visited Koraput and Baripada in December last year for assessing eligibility for conferring LoP.
