Though there is no official confirmation of the chief minister’s visit to the national capital, knowledgeable sources said he is likely to meet prime during Narendra Modi during his visit.

Patnaik will submit a memorandum to the prime minister on the damages incurred in the southern districts due to cyclone Hudhud, which hit the state on October 12, sources said. The appointment with Modi, however, is yet to be fixed, sources added.

TIt is not known if the chief minister would also meet any other central ministers during his visit.

Patnaik had visited the national capital during the Durga puja holidays and another visit just after a month has set tongues wagging in political circles here.

It may be noted here that chief minister Patnaik had earlier written to the prime minister after Cyclone Hudhud seeking a Rs 500 crore interim assistance relief and rehabilitation package. The Centre is yet to act on it.

Collectors of affected districts and different departments have submitted their reports on the damages due to Hudhud to the special relief commissioner.

Sources said the state government had already prepared a memorandum of around Rs 1,000 crore to be submitted to the Centre on damages sustained due cyclone Hudhud.
