Odisha CM’s ‘wife’ lands in Naveen Nivas to do Biju’s shraddha!

Security personnel on duty at Naveen Nivas, the residence of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, had a torrid time when a woman landed there claiming to be the bachelor Chief Minister’s ‘wife’ and insisted on doing shraddha of her ‘father-in-law’ Biju Patnaik yesterday, which indeed was the great man’s death anniversary.

“I am the wife of the Chief Minister. It is the death anniversary of my father-in-law. I want to do Shraddha and Tila Tarpan (Hindu rituals performed for the deceased) along with my husband. Who are you to stop me? Will you let me go or see..,” the woman was heard haranguing with the security staff at the entrance of Naveen Nivas.

Coincidentally, the scene was unfolding precisely at the time when the Chief Minister was about to leave for Puri to offer Shraddha to his late father.

As if to prove that she was serious, the woman wearing the standard uniform saree of school teachers was carrying arua rice and other items used to perform shraddha in her bag.

reached Naveen Nivas at about noon yesterday and was seen creating a scene with his security staff.

In a bid to ensure a smooth passage out of the house for the Chief Minister, the worried security personnel requested her to wait till he returned from Puri, but the ploy didn’t seem to work.

After the attempt to hoodwink the woman failed, the security staff had no option but to call in the Airfield police, who came and whisked her away paving the way for the Chief Minister to embark on his trip to Puri.

Airfield police found out that the woman, identified as Rajashri Mohanty (38) from Baligaon village under Chandbali Police station limits of Bhadrak District, worked as a Hindi teacher in Bhadrak and has recently been transferred to the Unit-VIII high school here. She has sent at least 250 letters to Naveen Nivas claiming to be the Chief Minister’s wife.

Assuming it to be a case of mental disorder, the cops were about to take her to a short stay home, when her sister called her up and requested them to drop her at her Khandagiri house, which the cops obliged.

It may be noted that this is not the first time someone claimed to be the wife of the Bachelor Chief Minister. Earlier, the cops had to deal with four such women from different parts of the state, who claimed to be his wife and insisted on meeting him, giving a hard time to his security staff.
