Bhubaneswar: Odisha which implemented the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 for traffic violations on September 1 has collected the highest amount of fine amounting to Rs 88.90 lakh in just four days.
As per reports, the Odisha Motor Vehicles Department has issued a total of 4,080 challans against violators of traffic rules collecting Rs 88.90 lakh as fine during the period. In addition, total 46 vehicles have been seized so far.
On September 1, total 1,138 challans were issued and Rs 19.4 lakh was collected while 499 challans were issued on September 2 and Rs 15.5 lakh penalty amount was collected. On September 3, a total of 895 challans were issued against total fine of Rs 24.5 lakh while 1548 challans were issued on September 4 with collection of Rs 88.9 lakh.
After Odisha, the Haryana Government collected second highest fine amount of Rs 52.32 lakh by issuing 3,900 challans against traffic violators.
