Odisha college girl ends life over rape, viral obscene video

Balangir: A college girl of Odisha’s Balangir district allegedly ended her life yesterday after being raped by a teacher on the pretext of marriage. The accused had also betrayed the girl and posted her obscene photos and videos on social media, which went viral.

As per a police complaint lodged by the mother of the deceased, accused Ganesh Selma had kidnapped and raped the victim of Muribahal area in February this year after promising the girl to marry her. Later, he betrayed her and married another girl.

Being upset over the matter, the victim took the extreme step by consuming poison yesterday afternoon, her mother alleged. Though she was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the Titlagarh Hospital, she breathed her last while undergoing treatment.

Further investigation by police was underway.
