Odisha college girl rape: Accused school teacher arrested  

Sambalpur: Two days after a complaint was lodged against a school teacher for allegedly raping a college girl, who happens to be a minor, in Kuchinda of Sambalpur district, police arrested the accused teacher today.

The Kuchinda police later produced accused Pramod Kumar Kharsel before court.

The incident came to fore after the girl lodged a police complaint on Tuesday night alleging that Pramod, a teacher of Bouriguda Panchayat High School and a resident of Nagadihi village, allegedly raped her in a nearby forest on July 11. A few locals had videographed the incident on mobile phone and circulated the video on social media.

Sources said Pramod runs a YouTube channel, where he uploads Sambalpuri music videos. He allegedly lured the girl, a +2 Second Year student of Kuchinda Women’s College, on the pretext of showing her the shoot of a music video and took her to the forest and raped her. The accused teacher had absconded after committing the crime.
