Odisha: College principal held for sexually harassing computer operator

Koraput: Pabitra Kumar Bedant, Principal of Sunabeda Women’s College in Odisha’s Koraput district, was today arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman computer operator of the institute.

As per a complaint lodged by victim Suchitra Patra with Sunabeda police, Bedant had been paying her Rs 5,000 out of her monthly salary of Rs 10,000. The accused asked her to have physical intimacy with him for payment of the rest amount, she alleged.

The principal used to threaten her to remove her from the job for not agreeing to his proposal, she said.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested Bedant under relevant sections of the IPC.
