Odisha comedy artist Papu Pom Pom, Gitu sent to Jharpada jail

Odisha comedy artist Tattwa Prakash Satapathy alias Papu Pom Pom and his associate Pradipta Swain alias Gitu were tonight sent to judicial custody after the duo was produced before the Khordha District and Sessions Judge.

Though Papu Pom Pom and his associate had moved bail applications, the court in the absence of the public prosecutor, case diary and statement under section 164 of the CrPc of the victim, the court fixed the next date for the hearing of the bail pleas on July 4.

The duo was sent to the Jharpada Special Jail here.

“We had moved bail applications and those have not been rejected. The court has kept them for consideration. Now the bail applications have been posted for consideration on July 4. Since the public prosecutor was not present case diary and 164 statement of the victim were not submitted the court fixed the next date of hearing on the bail pleas for July 4,” said the comedy artist’s counsel to reporters at the court premises.

It may be mentioned here that the actor and his associate Pradipta Swain alias Gitu were arrested from an apartment in Puri belonging to the latter.

Papu Pom Pom is accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl on the pretext of giving her a break in movies.
