The party in its memorandum cited the incidents of communal violence in Soro, Basudevpur, Rourkela and Pattamundai over immersion of Ganesh idols in these places as examples of the collapse of law and order in the state.

“Communal violence has reached the extreme level. It’s in an explosive state. Communal harmony has been badly affected. There has been violence and bloodshed between communities. In Rourkela communal violence has again occurred at the same place where it had occurred two months back. The situation has gone out of control in Soro. Communal violence has occurred in Soro, Basudevpur, Pattamundai and Rourkela. It seems the government doesn’t want to take any action,” said Harichandan speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor.
