Odisha Cong leader makes U-turn hours after resigning from party post

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda district Congress committee president Ashok Mishra took back his resignation hours after submitting the same to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Sarat Pattanayak today.

Mishra tendered his resignation from the post of Jhrasuguda Congress committee president around the noon. However, he took back his resignation around 3 pm, sources said.

Mishra took back his resignation at the behest of OPCC president, sources added.

“There were certain issues regarding the management of Congress party’s campaign for the upcoming Jharsuguda bypoll. That is why I had submitted my resignation as the District Congress Committee president. However, I have decided to take back my resignation as the OPCC president intervened into the issue and assured me of quick solution,” Mishra said in a presser at Jharsuguda.

Mishra was aspiring for Congress ticket to contest Jharsuguda bypoll scheduled on May 10. But, the party fielded Tarun Pandey, son of three-time former Jharsuguda MLA late Biren Pandey, as its candidate for the bypoll.
