New Delhi May 4:

The Congress which was relegated to the third position in Odisha in the recently concluded panchayat polls with its substantial vote share being eaten away by the BJP is all set for a course correction.

The grand old party’s Vice President Rahul Gandhi today huddled together with three senior leaders of the party from the state for about 45 minutes at his 12 Tuglak Road residence to discuss on the ways and means to revive the party’s sinking fortunes in Odisha.

Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Niranjan Patnaik, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Bhakta Charan Das and former party MP from Nabarangpur Pradip Majhi today turned up in a single car at Rahul’s residence at about 10 AM.

Later, the trio met Odisha In-Charge B K Hariprasad at the AICC headquarters.

“He only discussed strengthening the party’s organization in the state. Probably we will be again meeting on 6th,” said Patnaik after their meeting with Rahul.

“If we do not change our structure, the situation will be out of control in the coming days. We discussed on different aspects. After taking the opinion of all concerned different programmes will be undertaken,” said Majhi after meeting Rahul.

Party sources said Rahul has again called for a meeting with other senior leaders and party MLAs on May 8 to discuss strengthening of party organization in the state.
