The Congress, which has christened its padyatra as ‘jagarana yatra’, will launch it on October 14 from Dhokuta culminating at Bantala in Angul district .

On the following day, the padyatra will start from Kurundi  and culminate at Manapur in Dhenkanal district.

“Every single day farmers are committing suicides, the government is in slumber. The Congress will be launching ‘jagarana yatra’ to fight against this. The yatra will start from Dhokuta in Angul district on October 14 and end at Bantala. On the second day, it will start from Kurundi in Dhenkanal district and end at Manapur.  As announced earlier, this padyatra will be organized in ten phases. After Dussehra in the last week of October, this padyatra will be organized in the districts of Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri. Later, padyatras will be organized across the state in phases,” said Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan.

On the other hand, the ten day-long ‘jan sampark yatra’ of the ruling BJD which started on Gandhi Jayanti culminated today on Jai Prakash Narayan Jayanti.

A programme was organized at the Patharabandha basti here in which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and several senior leaders of the party participated.

The party tried its best to apprise people about the state government’s achievements while making them aware of the Centre’s neglect towards the state during the ten day-long padyatra.
