Bhubaneswar: Months after the Odisha Congress staged a mock marriage of the BJD and the BJP in the State Capital as a symbolic display of tacit understanding between the two parties, it once again resorted to a similar gesture by organising an 'Annaprashana" ceremony of the ten children borne out of the marital alliance. The event is scheduled to take place at Congress Bhawan here today.

As per official sources, the marriage between the two opposing parties had taken place to make official their close ties. Now the Congress went ahead and made another satirical move by organising annaprashanam - a Hindu rite of passage marking an infant's first intake of food other than milk - for the ten children borne out of their alliance namely mining scam, chit fund scam, inflation, violence against women, exploitation of middlemen, rising crimes against women, irregularities under various government schemes, acquisition of tribal land, power issues and sale of  government jobs.

The metaphorical move was an attempt to show the changing political landscape with the BJD and BJP extending support to each other and steering clear of major controversies by a covert association, they said.
