Bhubaneswar: A delegation of over a hundred Congress leaders and workers led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik is scheduled to visit New Delhi on August 22 for attending a meeting of AICC.
Worth mentioning, this will be the first meeting between the AICC and PCC leaders after Sonia Gandhi took charge as the Interim President of AICC.
“Sonia Gandhi has called for a meeting of the party workers to discuss strategies for strengthening the party’s position. We will also chalk out a plan for 2024 elections” said senior leader and MLA Sura Routray.
MLA Tara Bahinipati said, “We have to strengthen the party’s base at grassroots level. Changing party leadership will not solve the problem. We will request the AICC not to change the State leadership ahead of the civic body polls. Niranjan Patnaik has worked hard to unite the party workers.”
“The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary celebration. Various issues like strengthening of the party’s base for upcoming elections will be discussed,” said Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim.
