Odisha Congress leaders march to teach Naveen Odia, 5 detained

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Apr 2:

Congress student wing National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) leaders today took out a march on the second consecutive day today to teach Odisha Chief Minister the language of the state.

NSUI agitation

Quite like yesterday, five of the NSUI leaders, armed with ‘Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha’ (the most popular Odia prime), chalk, duster, pen, handwriting pads and other educational stuff marched towards Naveen Nivas– the Chief Minister’s residence.

They, however, were stopped near Naveen Nivas. NSUI leader Itish Pradhan and four other leaders have been detained as a preventive measure.

NSUI, on the other hand, reiterated that their attempts would continue until Naveen learns Odia.

“It is a disgrace that even 15 years after becoming the Chief Minister, he can’t speak the language of the state. It is obvious that he doesn’t care about implementation of Odia as the official language of the state. Congress would continue this agitation until he learns Odia,” said Itish.

Reacting to the development, BJD Student wing President Byomkesh Ray said that NSUI has been rejected across the state in various college elections and they are doing so in order to stay in limelight.

Notably, the student wing supporters of Congress yesterday took out a similar rally in Odisha capital and clashed with the cops on their way. While no one had been injured in the clash, dozens of NSUI members along with Itish were arrested and later released.
