Odisha Congress welcomes Ayodhya verdict, appeals to maintain peace

Bhubaneswar: Odisha unit of Congress today welcomed the Supreme Court’s Ayodhya verdict and appealed to state people to maintain peace and brotherhood.

“Congress party welcomes the apex court’s historic judgement on Ayodhya. Lord Ram symbolises chivalry, peace, friendship, sacrifice, patience and social harmony,” Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik said in a release.

He appealed to people of Odisha to respect the SC verdict and maintain brotherhood.

Besides, in the wake of judgement, the party deferred its protest programme against economic slowdown.

“On account of Ayodhya verdict, the state and district-level protest and demonstration programmes on ‘Economic Slowdown’ scheduled between Nov 10 and 15 have been deferred on directive by the All India Congress Committee (AICC),” Patnaik said.

The new dates will be fixed later, he added.

Worth mentioning, Indian National Congress launched its mass agitation in all districts of the country from November 5, which will continue till November 15 against ‘rising unemployment, sinking economy and farm distress’ ahead of Winter Session of Parliament that begins from November 18 and will conclude on December 13.
