Odisha cop among 3 arrested for attempting to kidnap woman in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A Constable of Odisha Armed Police Force (OAPF) among three persons were arrested for attempting to abduct a woman and misbehaving with her inside an auto-rickshaw in the state capital today.

Sources said the woman, a resident of Shantipalli Basti here was going to police station to report about domestic violence. Seeing her walking alone on road, the on-duty Constable posted at Khandagiri police station travelling in an auto-rickshaw assured her to help her file the police complaint and asked her to come inside the vehicle to take her to police station.

Later, instead of taking her to police station, the auto-rickshaw kept on moving randomly in the city. The cop, who reportedly was  in inebriated condition, along with two other occupants outraged her modesty. However, the woman screamed for help and managed to save her from their clutches by jumping out of the vehicle near Saheed Nagar police station.

Later, the three accused were arrested. They will be produced before court later in the day, said sources.
