Odisha cop caught red-handed taking bribe

Kalahandi: A police official was caught red-handed by Vigilance while taking bribe from a local in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

The sleuths of Vigilance caught ASI Malay Rana of Mahulpatna Police Outpost under Thuamul Rampur Police Station while he was receiving bribe amount of Rs 5,000 to release a tractor owned by a local namely Maheswar Sagar on Friday.

According to reports, ASI Rana had demanded Rs 5,000 from the resident to release his tractor that was seized from an accident site.

After receiving a complaint from Sagar, the Vigilance laid a trap to catch the corrupt police official red-handed.

As per the plan, the Vigilance team led by DSP Satyaban Mahananda caught the ASI while he was taking bribe amount from the resident at the outpost.

He was taken to the Vigilance office in Bhawanipatna for interrogation. Today, he will be forwarded to a local court.
