Odisha cop in the ‘dock’ for breaking court decorum !

An inspector in charge (IIC) literally ended up in the ‘dock’, though only for 10 minutes, for ‘breaking the decorum’ of a court in Odisha’s capital city today.

Judge Deepak Ranjan Sahoo of the sub divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court here ordered Rabi Padhy, IIC of Balipatna police station, to spend 10 minutes in the dock for talking to the court sub-inspector (CSI) inside the court about a case without his permission.

But an advocate, who was present in the court at the time, however, said there was more to it than just the IIC talking to the CSI.

“When the magistrate asked the IIC to maintain decorum of the court, the IIC used an expletive from a distance which was audible to the magistrate,” the advocate said. Immediately, the IIC was asked to come to the court dock and spend 10 minutes there, he added.

The IIC was released by the judge after he begged appolgy of the court with a written undertaking not to repeat the act ever again.

The information had also been conveyed to the city police Commissioner and the DCP here, he added.
