Odisha cop suspended after seeking protection for police

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police Association (OPA) president and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mishra has been suspended after he demanded protection for police personnel.

Mishra has been placed under suspension by Odisha DGP RP Sharma for violating service code.

Following the incident of an Inspector-ranked officer being thrashed by locals in Baliapal of Balasore district over death of a minor boy at a dhaba, Mishra had demanded protection for police officers in the state, saying that they were feeling unsafe following frequent attacks on them by the public.

The association had also sought formulation of a separate law for the protection of police personnel.
