Puri: Excise officials yesterday arrested two persons at Nimapara Bazaar in Odisha’s Puri district over their alleged involvement in drug peddling while one of them has been identified as son of a police official.
The accused are Satya Ranjan Das and Shantanu Das, a +3 student of SCS Autonomous College here and son of Delang police station SI Upendranath Das. Shantanu’s mother is also serving as a police SI.
According to reports, the accused duo was peddling drug in Puri and Nimapara areas. Following their arrest, heroin weighing 24 grams worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from the possession of the two.
Both were returning from Bhubaneswar on a scooter carrying the drug when an Excise team, acting on a tip-off, intercepted the two-wheeler at Nimapara Bazaar and apprehended the accused.
