Odisha couple electrocuted while plucking mangoes

Kandhamal: Plucking mangoes proved costlier for a poor tribal man and his wife with death in Kandhamal district after coming in contact with a live wire this morning.

The deceased persons were identified as Dasarath Bhukta (50) and his wife Sarojini Bhukta (45), residents of Bandhagarh village under Phiringia police limits.

According to reports, the tribal couple was plucking mangoes from a road-side tree with a stick. As the stick was wet, the woman first came in contact with a live wire. Dasarath held her wife to save her following which the couple died on the spot.

On receiving information, Phiringia police reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
