Odisha couple kills driver, steals car as he misbehaves with girl

Koraput: Police today arrested a 35-year-old man and a 20-year-old girl for allegedly stealing a car after killing its driver at Chatrala in Borigumma area of Odisha’s Koraput district on January 25 night. The man, who is married, was in a live-in relationship with the girl while the two were residing in an apartment located near Nandankanan in Bhubaneswar.

As per police sources, the duo hired a car for travelling to Harishankar in Balangir from Bhubaneswar. Midway, Sudhir Kumar Sahu, the car driver, and the couple consumed food and liquor at a dhaba in Koraput on January 25 night.

As the driver was drunk and not in proper condition to drive the vehicle, the accused man drove it. Later, they parked the car at Chatrala and took rest, during which the driver touched the girl inappropriately.

Being furious over his act, the couple strangled him to death and dumped the body at nearby farmland. The two then fled the spot with the vehicle and also took the deceased’s mobile phone and wallet into their possession.

Investigating into the case after the recovery of the body, police apprehended the duo from a hotel in Rourkela.
