Odisha court awards life imprisonment to woman, three sons in murder case

Dharmagarh: A local court in Odisha awarded life imprisonment to a woman and her three sons in 2018 killing of a contractual peon in Kalahandi district.

The Court of Additional District & Sessions Judge, Dharmagarh, sentenced convicts — Kuchita Dandasena and her three sons Radhu Dandasena, Peeta Dandasena and Jadu Dandasena — to life imprisonment for killing Chhayakant Dandasena, who was posted as a contractual peon at Atigaon RI office.

The court also slapped the four convicts with Rs 50,000 each as fine apart from awarding jail term for entire life.

The verdict was pronounced based on all witnesses and evidences against the accused persons.

According to reports, Kuchita and her sons were carrying out excavation work to build a house in the land adjacent to the RI Office at Atigaon under Junagarh police limits on June 14, 2018. When Chhayakant opposed that, the woman Kuchita along with her three sons attacked him with an axe and killed him in middle of the road in broad daylight.

The police arrested the four accused persons in the murder case.

Dharmagarh ADJ Bandana Kar heard the case today and convicted four accused persons on the basis of evidences. She awarded life imprisonment to the convicts under section 302 of IPC and fined them with Rs 50,000 each, informed public prosecutor Purna Chandra Nag.
