Odisha court frames charges against terror suspect Abdur Rehman

Cuttack: The Cuttack District & Sessions Judge Court today framed charges against suspected al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) operative Abdur Rehman dismissing his discharge petition.

Rehman was charged for sedition, illegal possession of arms and weapons and involvement in illegal activities

The next hearing in the case will take place on October 24.

Earlier, the court had deferred the hearing of discharge petition filed by Rehman till September 13.

He had filed a discharge petition on August 10 under Section 239 of CrPC claiming that the charges leveled against him in the police report are “false” and “groundless”.

Notably, the Delhi police had arrested Rehman from here in December 2015 for his alleged links with the global militant organization.

He was subsequently booked by the Odisha police under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after detecting several bank accounts operated by him and receiving money from overseas sources.
