The Rourkela Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court today granted interim bail to chit fund scam accused and Seashore Group CMD Prashant Das's wife Jyotirani Sarangi, who was arrested in a case of fraud to the tune of Rs 90 lakh.

Earlier, she was granted condition bail by the Orissa High Court and asked to depose before the lower court within stipulated date.

Notably, the Twin City Commissionerate police had arrested Sarangi from Laxmisagar area in Bhubaneswar on June 7 for allegedly duping people of Rs 90 lakh in Rourkela.

In 2013, a cheating case was registered against her at Raghunath Palli police station after which the Rourkela SDJM court had issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against her.

Following her arrest, she was sent to Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar after her bail plea was rejected.

Sarangi, a member of the board of directors of the company, was interrogated by CBI about the transfer of money from the company’s accounts to her personal account in December 2014.
