Bhubaneswar, July 3:
The head of Saradha chit fund company Sudipta Sen was sent to judicial custody for seven days by a court in the Odisha capital today.
After hearing the counsels for Sen and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) which had sought a 15-day remand, the Bhubaneswar district and sessions court sent him on judicial custody for seven days and posted the next hearing of the case on July 10.
Sen’s bail plea, along with the ED’s prayer for 15-day remand, would be taken up at the next hearing, counsel for the ED said.
Sen was taken to Jharpada jail here where he will spend the next one week.
Earlier in the day, Sen was brought here from Kolkata by a team of ED and Kolkata police.
