Odisha: Cousins, including minor girl killed in road mishap

Jajpur: Tragedy struck a family in Jajpur district after two cousins, including a minor girl were killed in a road accident near Barabati Chhak on NH 16 in Jajpur district today.

Reportedly, 23-year-old Ranjit, son of one Pratap Lenka of Damodarpur village under Kuakhia police station, and Shubhra Sambhabna (15), daughter of Ashish Lenka, were on their way back from Jarka, when an unidentified vehicle hit their scooter near Barabati Chhak.

While the minor girl died on the spot, Ranjit was rushed to a nearby hospital in Dharmasala in critical condition. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, he succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital

On receiving information, Dharamsala police seized the vehicle and sent the body for post-mortem. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to trace the vehicle that rammed into the scooter, said police.
