Odisha: COVID-19 positive candidate barred entry to JEE(Main) exam centre

Berhampur: While the government is claiming to provide all possible support to candidates appearing for all-India JEE (Main) examination, a COVID-19 positive candidate was not allowed to sit in the entrance examination in Ganjam district today.

The COVID-19 positive candidate from Rambha area reached the exam centre at Rolland Institute of Technology in Golanthara on the outskirts of Berhampur to appear for the entrance exam. Wearing a PPE kit the candidate reached the exam centre in a special ambulance arranged by the local administration.

However, he was not allowed to enter the exam centre by the National Testing Agency (NTA) Observer Ratnakar Mishra. Even though the Ganjam District Collector called up the NTA official, the COVID-19 positive candidate was denied an entry to the centre.

In a letter to the district administration, the NTA Observer stated corona positive candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam. The NTA will make alternate arrangement for the COVID-19 positive candidates, the letter read.
