Odisha COVID-19 Update: 282 fresh cases; tally surges to 5752

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID-19 tally surged to 5752 with 282 fresh positive cases reported in past 24 hours, informed State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department today.

Of fresh cases, 274 positive cases have been detected from 17 districts and remaining 8 cases are NDRF personnel returned from Cyclone AMPHAN duty in West Bengal.

A total of 4271 samples was tested yesterday, of which 282 samples were tested positive for COVID-19. Of new cases, 256 have been reported from quarantine centres and 26 are local contacts.

While Gajapati district reported the highest number of 76 cases followed by Ganjam (75) and Khordha (26), 23 cases have been reported from Jharsuguda district.

With this, the number of active cases now stands at 1740 with 3988 recovered cases in Odisha. Total 17 COVID-19 patients have succumbed to the deadly virus in the State so far.
