Balasore: Previously clamped curfew restrictions will be relaxed for only four hours and internet services will be allowed only to limited users, Balasore district administration informed today.
Accordingly, the imposed curfew will be relaxed between 7.00 AM and 11.00 AM tomorrow. Denizens in the civic area will be allowed to purchase their essential commodities during the relaxation. However, the preventive restrictions will continue thereafter until further orders, Balasore District Magistrate and Collector Ashish Thakare said mediapersons while briefing on the prevalent situation.
Besides, internet service will be allowed to Banks and other important offices through landlines.
All schools, Anganwadi centres, and colleges will remain closed in the municipal area for the next two days. Six more companies of BSF have been deployed along with 40 platoons of police force to tackle the situation and maintain law and order in Balasore town.
Notably, as many as 35 persons were forwarded to court yesterday for violating curfew restrictions. Similarly, 30 more have been detained for conducting violence when the curfew was in force.
Worth mentioning, a clash that earlier took place between two groups left around five persons injured, including a cop. About 15 vehicles were ransacked in the violence. The situation worsened as one of the groups resorted to stone pelting. Police imposed curfew to bring the situation under control.
Curfew in the areas under Balasore municipality has been extended till 20.06.2024 midnight with relaxation for general public from 7am to 11 am to meet their daily needs.
